Amy founded the Metro Maryland KODA (MMKODA) organization in 1999 and served as the organization’s first president. “I’ve learned there are many families all over the state and nation who want to share information about raising KODA children and what better way to share information with each other than at a national conference.”
Amy has been busy planning many events for the conference for what will be a truly memorable conference for many families. “At the conference I want to network, meet new people, share ideas, and learn how we can support each other.”
If her free time, Amy loves to be outdoors, camping, going to the beach, playing outside, and watching her family play soccer. An experienced educator, Amy is a lead teacher in the program for deaf and hard of hearing students at Wood Middle School in Rockville, MD.
She is married and has two children.
Julie Perry Co-Chair
Julie looks forward to meeting all the families who come. “I wanted to get involved in the 2010 NKFC,” explains Julie, “because I want to see parents become better educated regarding how to meet the needs of KODAS.” Among her goals for the 2009 NKFC is a “hope that NKFC will be the start of a bi-annual national conference and will lead to a new organization.”
Julie works at Gallaudet University as a Deaf Interpreter. During her free time, Julie enjoys spending quality time with her kids and studying for her CDI certification.
